UnLtd - the Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs - supports and develops the role of social entrepreneurs as a force for positive change in the United Kingdom. It currently does this through providing:
- Awards to social entrepreneurs
- Research into the impact of social entrepreneurs on society
- UnLtd Ventures - intensive support for successful social entrepreneurs to grow or replicate their projects
UnLtd believes in supporting people with ideas, which is why its awards are only given to individuals. It also believes in giving a package of support to award-winners, rather than just the initial financial award: encouragement, support, contacts and access to training are just as vital to help people with ideas and vision make their project a success.
UnLtd was formed in 2000 by seven partner organisations, and is a UK registered charity. UnLtd's Millennium Awards are funded by the income generated from an investment of ?100 million given to UnLtd by the Millennium Commission, one of the National Lottery distributors.
